# Make a thumbnail

The **Thumbnail** section is on the **Publish** tab. The thumbnail matches the project's shape: 16:9 or 9:16.

## Make one

1. In the preview, pause on a frame where you look your best.
2. Choose **Make a thumbnail from** (the button names the time).
3. ClipCat takes that frame from your original recording and cuts you out of it. This takes a few seconds and runs on your computer.

The text starts as the title the AI editor suggested. Pick another frame any time: the text and colours stay.

If nothing in the frame stands out enough to cut out, the text sits on top of the picture instead of behind you.

## Change it

- **Text**: a few big words.
- **Text colour**: **Paper**, **Ink** or **Tape yellow**.
- **Behind the text**: **The frame**, **The frame, blurred**, or a flat **Paper**, **Ink** or **Tape yellow**.
- **Text side**: **Left** or **Right**.
- **Put the text behind you**: untick it to put the text in front.

Drag the text on the preview to move it, or drag its corner to make it bigger or smaller. You can also focus the text or its corner with Tab and use the arrow keys (Shift moves five times as far). **Put the text back** returns it to its place for the side you picked.

## Use it

- **Save thumbnail as PNG…** saves it wherever you choose, to upload with the video.
- Every export puts the thumbnail into the MP4 as its cover art.
